Public Health 101: How US Public Health Works

PANELISTS

Dr. Georges Benjamin One of the nation’s most influential physician leaders, Dr. Benjamin has been the Executive Director of the American Public Health Association since 2002 where he directs the Association’s push to make America the healthiest nation in one generation. A former secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, he served on President Obama’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council, which advises the president on how best to assure the security of the nation’s critical infrastructure. 

Dr. Kevin Yeskey
Kevin Yeskey, M.D., is MDB’s Senior Advisor for Emergency Public Health and is the former Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary to the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and a 24 year veteran of the U.S. Public Health Service. In that capacity, he oversaw the National Hospital Preparedness Program, the National Disaster Medical System, the Strategic National Stockpile, ASPR Regional Offices, and ASPR emergency response activities.
