Aired on 8/21/2014 — The sixth webinar in SSF’s Security and Sustainability Forum’s free series on Renewable Energy on Institutional Property was held on August 21. In this session, our panel of experts delved into successful public private partnership to design, finance, construct and operate renewable energy systems as part of an organization’s overall energy management program.
Using private capital to own and operate systems on government and institutional property is an attractive model for cash-strapped entities that want the benefits of lowering energy use and reducing costs without any upfront capital. Our panel of finance and procurement experts analyzed both a recent successful PPP and a project that did not achieve financing.
Roger Feldman, with Andrews Kurth, focuses his legal practice on renewable energy. He was formally Deputy Administrator for Finance and Environment at the U.S. Federal Energy Administration, and his professional activities include Chair of several American Bar Association Committees in energy, environment, finance and public-private partnerships. Roger is also a Director of the American Council on Renewable Energy.
Jeff Eckel, CEO of Hannon and Armstrong, a firm that makes debt and equity investments in sustainable infrastructure projects. John Ravis, is a principal with Scully Capital, which specializes in a broad range of investment banking and financial advisory services to domestic and international, public- and private-sector clients. John has over 19 years of experience in energy project finance and development as a lender, an investor, and as a developer.
