Integrating Environment and Health

SSF and the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) open up key issues to be addressed at NCSE’s 2017 Annual Conference, “Integrating Environment and Health.” Building on a decade of scientific advances and new policy initiatives since the 7th NCSE Annual Conference last addressed these connections, the webinar explores cutting-edge research, emerging issues, and innovative solutions at the intersection of environmental conditions and human health.

Michelle Wyman (Moderator)

Executive Director, National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE)

Michelle Wyman is the Executive Director of the National Council for Science and the Environment, bringing an extensive background in energy and environmental policy at the state and local levels. She works to build connections between scientific research and practical environmental and health policy.

Tim Jackson

Professor of Sustainable Development; Director, Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP), University of Surrey

Tim Jackson is Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Surrey and Director of the newly awarded Centre for the Understanding of Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP). A former Economics Commissioner on the UK Sustainable Development Commission, he examines the relationships between economic growth, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Dr. Patti Bright

Senior Science Advisor, Environmental Health Mission Area, U.S. Geological Survey

Dr. Patti Bright serves as Senior Science Advisor to the USGS Environmental Health Mission Area, which focuses on the interface between health and the environment — examining how interactions among people, animals, and the environment affect the risk of exposure to environmental disease agents. She also serves as USGS Chemical and Biological Threats Preparedness and Response Coordinator.
