SSF Professional Education

Secure the Judgment to Act in a World Under Pressure

Practitioner-led online professional education in energy, security, resilience, and adaptation.

SSF Professional Education is a new initiative building a line of practitioner-led certificates and stand-alone online courses in energy, security, resilience, and adaptation. The initial course in the Resilient Energy Certificate program begins October 28, 2026, with others to follow.

These are the domains where the pressures on institutions, infrastructure, and communities are sharpest. The first course opens October 28, 2026. Others are in planning with SSF’s Program Advisors.

For fifteen years, SSF has convened the practitioners, policymakers, and analysts working at these intersections. The programs draw directly on that network. Every course will be built and led by an active practitioner doing the work today.

The audience for this program is varied. Senior people want to go deeper into a new domain. Mid-career advisors want the working expertise to shape strategy and counsel leadership. Others are building credentials that will change the direction of their careers and the contributions they make to their organizations. SSF Professional Education is being built for them.

Real expertise, without leaving your job to get it. SSF courses are short and focused: about eight hours each, designed to fit around the work you’re already doing.

Non-degree, non-credit. No tuition the size of a graduate program. No semesters. No commitments to anything you don’t need. The credential SSF offers is professional — built to give you the confidence to contribute on the questions that matter most.

Who it’s for

Working professionals across government, industry, and nonprofits who need to build energy, resilience, security, or adaptation expertise without leaving their jobs to do it.

Senior professionals

Going deeper into a new domain or building authority across the broader system you already work in.

Mid-career advisors

Building the working expertise to advise leadership, shape strategy, and make better decisions.

Career-builders

Adding credentials and capabilities that change the trajectory of your career and your value to your organization.

How the program is being structured

Two formats, depending on what you need.

Certificate Programs

A cohort of related courses in one domain — energy, climate adaptation, security, resilience. Complete a defined number of courses to earn the certificate. Designed for professionals building structured expertise in a focused area. The first program on Resilient Energy is rolling out starting October 1016, with others to follow.

Stand-Alone Courses

Individual courses are in planning and focus on specific topics, not tied to a certificate program. For professionals who need targeted training on a specific topic.

Programs are developed with SSF’s Program Advisors — senior practitioners in energy, climate, security, and resilience who guide our content direction. Meet our Leadership Team and Advisors.(opens in new tab)(opens in new tab)

Where the program stands now

SSF Professional Education is in development. We are working with our Program Advisors to design certificate programs and stand-alone courses across the four domains. The first certificate launches later this year. The rest are in planning.
